A demonstration of a tethered balloon launch is held, with campers being involved in the launch. (See right side, in distance) A trained skydiver team shows students the proper handling of an airfoil parachute rig.
Then some campers get their turn! Local hang glider experts hold classes where they explain the "care and feeding" of hang gliders.
Then the students get their turns hanging from the hang glider's cocoon-like sling. (No, campers do not actually fly the hang gliders.) Like so many things, hang gliding takes courage. This view is from the local jump-off point, 800 feet above the valley floor!
